SummaryThe durability requirements established in the project of important infrastructures has become increasingly severe in the last decades. Nowadays, it is common to find design specifications that include a minimum service life between 100 and 150 years. The project DURADOV focuses on the development of tunnel segments with non-metallic fibre reinforced concrete (NMFRC) that fulfils demanding durability and sustainability requirements. Among the main objectives of the project are: - Design and characterization of alternative NMFRC suitable for application in tunnel segments subjected to typical soil types, depth of excavation, construction loads, etc. - Study the durability of the NMFRC, seeking for materials capable of guaranteeing a minimum service life between 100 and 150 years. - Evaluate the behaviour of the NMFRC segments when subjecting to fire actions. - Develop new quality control methods for the assessment of fibre content and orientation in NMFRC. - Develop new methodologies for the structural design and estimation of partial safety factors taking into account the specificities of the NMFRC and the application in tunnels.
