Dr. Esther Real Saladrigas is Full Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC).
Her research focuses on the nonlinear analysis of steel structures. In particular, structural problems associated with plate buckling, structural behavior of stainless steel and nonlinear analysis of steel structures. All her work is reflected in numerous articles in international indexed journals.
She has actively contributed to the continuous development of European regulations on the structural behavior of stainless steel EN1993-1-4, providing recommendations for the code. She is an active member of the National and International standardization bodies for Steel and Stainless steel as: Member of the Spanish committee AEN/CTN140/SC3 Eurocódigo 3-Proyecto de estructuras de acero, and EN1993-1-4: “Design of steel structures. General rules-Supplementary rules for stainless steels”.
She is Associate editor of the Structures Journal-Institution of Structural Engineers and member of the Editorial Boards of the Thin-Walled Structures and Journal of Constructional Steel Research (Elsevier) and has been Member of several International Scientific Committees of research conferences among other national and European scientific comities and working groups.
In the UPC she had a lot of managing positions, she is the Dean of the School of Civil Engineers of Barcelona at the UPC since 2020 and was Vice-Rector for Knowledge Transfer from 2014 to 2017. She was also member of the Governing Board of the Professional Civil Engineering Association for Catalunya, from 2018 and being the Vice-Dean since 2022.
