Enrique Mirambell Arrizabalaga

Enrique Mirambell is Professor of the School of Civil Engineering of Barcelona (ETSECCP) at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) since 1992, where he carries out his activity as lecturer, researcher and consultant on structural engineering.

He has conducted experimental and theoretical research on the structural behaviour, analysis and design of concrete, steel and composite structures. His research interests are experimental techniques, advanced structural analysis models, structural behaviour in front of imposed deformations, instability phenomena in steel structures and design of stainless steel structures. He has supervised 10 doctoral theses, has published more than 200 papers, in national and international journals and conferences, and has published 22 books on topics related to his teaching and research areas of interest. He has been principal investigator in 15 competitive projects financed by national and European administrations.

He has directed and participated in more than 70 specific collaboration agreements with companies in the construction sector. He is Chairperson of the Spanish Code for Steel Structures since 2002, Chairperson of the Spanish Committee AEN/CTN140/EC3, Eurocode 3 Design of Steel Structures, since 2000, Member of the European Committee CEN/TC250/SC3, Eurocode 3 Design of Steel Structures, since 2000 and Member of the Working Group WG1 EN1993-1-1 Design of Steel Structures, since 2014.

He was Acting Director of the School of Civil Engineering of Barcelona (ETSECCP) at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) (12/05/94 – 07/06/94), Director of the Department of Construction Engineering (UPC) (20/05/98 – 17/09/01) and Director of the CELSA-UPC Chair (01/06/2000 – 31/12/2009).

Commander Medal of the Order of Civil Merit, awarded by Spain, in December 2010.
